2022 BMW Alpina B8 Gran Coupe

When investing in a high-performance luxury car, not many think to visit a used car dealership. However, the truth is that these places often have lots of hidden gems, including cars from high-end brands like BMW.

Today, we will take a close look at the 2022 BMW Alpina B8 Gran Coupe and what features and benefits it can offer you. Although it has not even been a year since the model was released, considering the fact that about 3.4% of people sell their new car within the first year, there is a chance that you will be seeing this model at a used car dealership soon, so it is worth keeping an eye on it.

Overview of the 2022 BMW Alpina B8 Gran Coupe

The 2022 BMW Alpina B8 Gran Coupe is a make by Alpina, a medium-sized manufacturer of high-performance cars that works closely with BMW to produce high-performance and Mini cars.  The car features a specially turned motor, a unique paintjob, handcrafted interior, and a smooth ride.

Let’s take an in-depth look at it.

Design

Anyone can spot the exclusive Alpina model a mile away, thanks to its exclusive new look and elegance. The car comes with two gorgeous paint finishes: the Alpina Green Metallic and the Alpina Blue Metallic, which is the color palette reserved exclusively for the model.

The car’s front has larger air intakes, while its rear has been remodeled to accommodate a diffuser. It also features a hardly-noticeable subtle black lip spoiler.

One of its most signature features is the 21-inch 20-spoke wheels. The car is also equipped with its standard adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight, a Shadowline exterior trim, and a power panoramic moonroof. You can also customize the car with an M Carbon roof.

Engine

The hood of the car is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that has been specially turned for extra cooling to ensure maximum power output and delivery. The car has three external coolers.

The Alpina B8 can achieve 612 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque smoothly, increasing driver confidence on the road and ensuring no speed is lost. Thanks to its superior xDrive AWD system, it can reach a top speed of 200 miles per hour in just a few seconds.

Coupled with a stainless steel exhaust system, the Alpina delivers a thrilling roar that increases the excitement of the ride.

Ride

One of the best aspects of the Alpina B8 is that it offers a more comfortable and softer ride than your standard BMW, which is saying something. The car’s large size does not deter from handling it since it has an exceptional steering response.

The Coupe’s suspension setup is an upgrade from the standard 8 Series and features hydro mounts on the front, Eibach springs, and stiff struts that offer a very balanced ride. It also has reinforced front sway bars and stiffer and lower wishbone mounts, which enhance the Coupe’s responsiveness.

Making it even more special are the unique Pirelli tires that offer superb traction, with the front tires having an extra sound insulation.

Interior

The Alpina B8 model is equipped with a high-class, high-gloss walnut anthracite trim and other glamorous accents. It features super-soft merino leather upholstery, a leather-covered instrument panel, and an anthracite Alcantara headliner. The steering wheel also has a wonderful hard finish of untreated Lavalina leather, which feels nothing like you have ever felt before in a car.

Gas Mileage

The Alpina B8 has a gas mileage of 17 miles per gallon in the city, 24 miles per gallon on the highway, and 19 miles per gallon combined, which is pretty decent. The car comes with the standard 18-gallon tank, which means after a full refill, it can cover over 342 miles without refueling.

Features

The standard features of the Alpina B8 is the power trunk lid, a power moonroof, a keyless entry with a push-button start, advanced vehicle and key memory, remote engine start, gesture controls,for-zone climate control, a power rear sunshade, power-adjustable steering column, ambient interior light, and heated and ventilated power-adjustable front sport seats, and much, much, more.

However, one of the things that needs a special mention is the Live Cockpit Professionals with a fully-digital and modern 12.3-inch instrument display.

Seating

If you consider the 8 Series two-door coupe, the leg space leaves something to be desired in the rear seats. The Alpina B8, however, is a lot better when it comes to spacious seats. The front seats are open and wide in every dimension.

The size of the back seats are the same as the standard 8 Series: it has a 54.6-inch shoulder room, a 37-inch headroom, and 36.6-inch legroom, which can accommodate two medium-sized individuals well. In fact, there are three seat belts, which mean the seats have been designed for three people.

The rear seat area is also fitted with a big center console.

The Alpina B8 has a greater height than the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, which means the entering and exiting the vehicle is better as well.

Trunk and Cargo Space

The Alpina B8 has been created with a 15.5 cubic foot trunk, which is the same standard size that has been seen in the 8 Series. If you need more space in the trunk, it is easy to fold over the rear seats in a 40/20/40 split.

In addition, all the doors have door pockets in the inside and both the front and back passengers have dual cupholders. Front passenger can also help themselves to a storage compartment built underneath the central armrest.

Infotainment Screen & Audio System

One of our most favorite things about the Alpina B8 is the infotainment screen. The display is 10,25 inches and the B8 comes with the standard navigations. The sound is very smoothly channeled through a wonderful 464-watt sound surround system by Harman Kardon, which is equipped with 16 speakers. This is a great audio option for the Alpina B8.

Safety Features

The Alpina B8 comes with standard safety features like the front-side and dual front airbags as well as the full-length airbags. The Coupe is also equipped with the usual ABS and EBD systems and features an adaptive traction and stability control feature, which you can choose to keep on, off, or semi-on.

On the driver assistance, you also get a rearview camera, a head-up display, and a dynamic cruise control feature. The Coupe also has the standard driver assistant features like the Active Guard that gives a lane-switching warning, front-collision warning, and automatic braking for crash mitigation.

The Driving Assistance Professional package also delivers you a range of features like active driving assistant, active park distance control, active blind-spot detection, extended traffic jam assistant, and a 3D surround-view monitor.

So there you have it — all the important features of the Alpina B8.
